The Carlson School Master of Accountancy (MAcc) program celebrated its 10th anniversary with a celebration at Surly Brewing in Minneapolis in May. Nearly 60 people were in attendance to celebrate this important milestone.
The program currently has 239 alumni, of which many are now working for the Big 4 (PwC, Deloitte, EY, and KPMG), regional accounting firms, and the Twin Cities top Fortune 500 companies.
New to its curriculum, MAcc has started a 48-credit hour track in addition to its 30-credit hour track. The 48-credit hour track is for students with an undergraduate degree in a field other than accounting or finance. These students will be qualified to sit for the CPA exam after the MAcc. The goal is to expand the program’s reach and allow career changers to become CPAs. Previously, the program required an undergraduate degree in accounting or finance.
